SIP2 BMS Interface Hardware for BACnet, Trend and Metering Integration

Connect meters, plant and third-party systems to BMS, energy monitoring and IoT platforms using one compact multi-protocol interface.

The Synapsys SIP2 hardware platform is a compact, low-cost BMS interface and data acquisition solution for building automation, metering and plant integration projects.

SIP2 supports BACnet and Trend interfacing, Modbus, M-Bus, MQTT, REST, digital input/pulse counting and data acquisition. It allows meter and plant data to be passed to Building Management Systems, Energy Monitoring Systems and Synapsys iNSIGHT Billing and Energy platforms.

SIP2 Multi-Protocol BMS Interface Features

  • Multi-protocol BMS interface hardware for metering, plant and third-party system integration
  • BACnet and Trend interfacing for building automation projects
  • Built-in M-Bus interface for up to 60 unit loads
  • Modbus support for serial field-bus integration
  • MQTT and REST Server support for IoT connectivity
  • Digital input / pulse counter for metering applications
  • Data acquisition for BMS, energy monitoring and reporting platforms
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) for simplified installation
  • Compact DIN-rail mounting for control panels and plant-room installations
  • Available in 100, 300 and 600 point variants

SIP2 is designed for projects where meter, plant or third-party system data needs to be shared with one or more platforms. It can pass data to Building Management Systems, Energy Monitoring Systems and Synapsys iNSIGHT Billing and Energy platforms, helping engineers avoid duplicated hardware and repeated integration work.

Each SIP2 device supports a maximum of four drivers, with one instance of each selected driver per device. This allows the engineer or end user to configure the device around the specific integration requirement.

Available SIP2 drivers and functions include:

  • MQTT for IoT connectivity
  • REST Server for IoT connectivity
  • Synapsys Virtual IQ (vIQ) for Trend interfacing
  • Synapsys BACnet Integration Controller (BIC) for BACnet integration
  • Data Acquisition
  • Modbus
  • M-Bus
  • Digital input / pulse counter

Synapsys Virtual IQ (vIQ) for Trend Interfacing

Synapsys Virtual IQ (vIQ) allows SIP2 to act as a Trend interfacing tool for third-party devices.

With vIQ, connected systems can be presented on a Trend network as if they were Trend controllers. Each transferred value is provided as a standard Trend module, such as a sensor, knob, switch or digital input, with support for labels, alarms and plots.

Synapsys BACnet Integration Controller (BIC) for BACnet Integration

SIP2 includes the Synapsys BACnet Integration Controller (BIC), helping engineers present third-party devices as BACnet devices.

Transferred values can be presented as BACnet object types, with Notification Class and Trendlog functionality available to support efficient BACnet interfacing within BMS projects.

SIP2 Hardware Features

  • Available in 100, 300 and 600 point variants
  • Compact footprint for metering panels and BMS control panels
